Harrods is set to unveil a new baby layette, nursery furniture and prams department on 26 September.
The space, which is located on the London store’s fourth floor childrenswear department, is designed to provide the ultimate destination for baby gifts and accessories.
Harrods has worked with Ink Architects to design the new space with a luxurious feel. Highlights include brass fixtures and Parisian-style wall panelling complemented by plush, French grey carpets, leather poofs and soft grey velvet sofas.
To add a fun, child-like feel, children’s illustrator Katy Frost has illustrated paintings of woodland animals across the walls.
The space also includes four new, luxurious feeding and changing rooms.
The department will include a variety of Harrods’ much loved baby brands including Kissy Kissy, Paz Rodriguez and Tartine et Chocolat, as well as Bugaboo, Baby Zen and an exclusive collaboration from Silver Cross and Aston Martin.
“We have created two beautiful new departments on the fourth floor in childrenswear for new and expectant parents,” says Elizabeth Cliff, general merchandising manager for childrenswear.
“We wanted to ensure that the new baby and nursery departments offer the same level of luxury as you would expect elsewhere in Harrods,” Cliff continues. “We have therefore created a larger, more spacious baby layette department, which is a warm and relaxing space.
“We have worked hard to ensure we offer everything a first-time or seasoned expert parent could need for a new arrival – ensuring baby layette is the destination in London to visit when preparing for welcoming a little one into the world.”
One of the most unique offerings to the new department is the bespoke hamper service. With no minimum spend, a specifically tailored hamper can be created. Anything from the department can be included within the hamper, from essentials such as bibs and dummies through to cashmere blankets.
