Having previously collaborated with fashion brands such as Missoni, Delphine Delafon and Olympia Le Tan, Muzungu Sisters is now entering the world of luxury childrenswear by collaborating with Spanish label La Coqueta for the very first time.

Established in 2013, La Coqueta is the brainchild of Celia Muñoz, who founded the childrenswear business to help support and popularise Spanish design and craftsmanship. The collections are “proudly made in Spain” and every garment’s origin can be tracked back to a family-run business. La Coqueta has gone from strength to strength since launch, including a London flagship in Hampstead and a customer base spanning the globe.

Muzungu Sisters launched in 2011, providing the global online retail market with exclusive products handcrafted in a sustainable manner by local artisans. By promoting these products, founders Tatiana Santo Domingo and Dana Alikhani aim to put a spotlight on rare artistry, stimulate local economies and contribute to their growth. The collections incorporate women’s clothing and accessories and feature key elements such as hand-stitching, colourful pom-poms, button embroidery and ornamental fastenings.

Featuring boy, girl and baby styles in a 10-piece capsule, the La Coqueta x Muzungu Sisters collection is a natural meeting of brands. Focus is placed on traditional craftsmanship and combines Muzungu Sisters’ artisanal embroidery with La Coqueta’s classic design.

“Tatiana and Dana have been customers of La Coqueta for a long time and I am a huge fan of the Muzungu Sisters collections,” says La Coqueta founder, Celia Muñoz. “We both share a strong passion for travel, style and craftsmanship – I love the meaningful story behind the brand. This collaboration is a dream come true for La Coqueta, it has been amazing to see how their signature designs have been translated into my childrenswear. We have all loved every minute of the creative process.”

Muzungu Sisters’ co-founder Dana Alikhani, adds, “We both love dressing our children in La Coqueta’s beautiful clothes and were sure that combining Celia’s delicate and traditional creations with Muzungu Sisters’s ethnic influences would look amazing so we decided to approach Celia about a collaboration – she loved the idea.”

The La Coqueta x Muzungu Sisters collaboration is available at the La Coqueta flagship store and both brands’ ecommerce sites.
