Pink and blue MisKits sports kits

MisKits is a brand-new concept of stylish football teamwear specifically tailored for girls, which includes customised kits for schools, clubs and teams. The brand’s founder, Paul Deakin, created the brand when his daughter wanted to skip football practice because of her uncomfortable football socks.

Deakin, who has a sports science degree, also has 20-years’ experience as a PE teacher. He is currently a volunteer coach at a local athletics club and at his 8-year-old daughter’s football team.

“When my daughter changed into her favourite spotty MisKits socks, her enjoyment for the game instantly re-appeared,” says Deakin. “The spotty socks also received much adulation from the girls at practice.”

MisKits addresses the problem of girls having to wear ill-fitting and bland football kits that are made for boys or men.

MisKits’ collection includes kits comprising shorts, a T-shirt and socks. There is also a base layer, the design of which is specifically for girls’ physiques, thus maximising comfort and performance. Features of the quick-drying, breathable base layer include mesh inserts for ventilation and ultrasonic seams for less friction.

A girls’ high performance accessories set is also available featuring two headbands and two wristbands.

MisKits places great importance on comfort, with all of its kits made from high-performance materials. Key benefits of these materials include quick-dry, rapid evaporation technology, heat insulation and temperature balancing.

Other design highlights include a super stretch motion fit and tailored form design. Kits also offer UV protection and stay cool technology as well as material that is hypoallergenic, antibacterial and odourless.

Research carried out by Virgin Active reveals almost half of the girls surveyed enjoy being active but hate their PE kit; 48% of girls also admit to using excuses to get out of PE lessons.

MisKits’ aim is to increase participation in girls’ football. It hopes to achieve this by not only offering comfortable and stylish kits but also by providing the opportunity for girls to participate in the design process.

“Notably, 67% of Year 5 girls at a local primary school said that they were more interested in playing for the school football team following their involvement in designing a new kit,” adds Deakin.

MisKits is available wholesale. It also offers a bespoke service offering customised kit for schools, clubs or teams.
