CWB’s pick of childrenswear brands to watch.

Kayla Kids

Established in October 2019, Kayla Kids (pictured above) is a new childrenswear brand built on the principles of being unique, high quality and affordable. Founder Aylin Yagci takes inspiration from her own children when creating the collections, guided by their likes, special interests and colour preferences. S/s 20 sees the brand focus on bold and neon colours together with prints and comfortable, fun designs for boys and girls aged 1 to 10 years. Pieces include tutu dresses, mini leggings, skirts, unisex tops, T-shirts, shorts and hoodies. A key aspect of the collection is that you can mix and match any of the pieces.

Mika & Milo

Mika & Milo

Aiko Stevenson launched cashmere kidswear label Mika & Milo in 2018 as part of her family’s fourth-generation Scottish woollen company. With origins going back over a century, the company started with Stevenson’s great grandfather who ran his own woollen mill producing fine Scottish Tweeds. When her father joined, he added cashmere to the mix. Mika & Milo caters for boys and girls aged 0 to 12 years. Classic pieces feature modern twists such as angel wings as well as lightning bolts. Both a 100% cashmere range and a more affordable and durable 30/70 cashmere/merino range are available.

Farmyard The Label

Farmyard The Label

After studying fashion and textiles at university with a focus on childrenswear, Emma Hales went on to enjoy a career in kidswear – most recently with Burberry and Jojo Maman Bébé – before launching her own brand Farmyard The Label in September 2018. Focusing on simplicity, sustainability and timeless fashion, the concept behind the collections is that every piece can be passed down. The brand offers a classic look with a timeless feel that maintains the innocence of childhood. Available for 0 to 5 years, key pieces include traditional shirts, bloomers, dresses, bonnets and accessories. Furthermore, every item uses natural, long-lasting and quality fabrics.

The Natty

The Natty

Soon after moving to the UK from Malaysia, Nadia Fauzi discovered she was pregnant with her second child. However, she was unable to find the timeless, sustainable maternitywear she desired. Despite a background in finance rather than fashion, in August 2019 Fauzi launched The Natty, her own brand of timeless, sustainable kids’ clothing and maternitywear. The capsule collection offers simple neutrals, stripes and everyday prints across gender-neutral pieces for both baby (0 to 24 months) and child (2 to 8 years). With conscious living at its core, the brand prioritises practical designs, GOTS certified organic materials and ethical production.
