African children for Raleigh International in school jumpers

Chadwick Teamwear is donating 5p from the sale of every garment in 2020 as part of its continued support of Raleigh International’s youth-led reforestation project.

The funds will help improve the lives of those living in the Mufindi district of southern central Tanzania. Tanzania is one of the world’s poorest countries; approximately 75% of Tanzanians live without adequate access to safe water and sanitation.

With a growing population of young people, there is also a considerable need for employment opportunities. The aim is to enable them to learn how to develop sustainable growth and improvement for their families and communities.

With Chadwick Teamwear’s help, Raleigh International is empowering youths to learn about Natural Resource Management.

The project engages approximately 900 community members across two village areas. Chadwick Teamwear’s support ensures international volunteers can continue to train and educate the youth workers from these communities.

They will provide education on sustainable forest management as well as raising awareness of the significant positive changes that can be made.

Central to the project is the planting of approximately 300,000 fast-growing pine tree seedlings each year. The first project commenced in autumn 2018, with Chadwick currently committing funds until the summer of 2021.

Commenting is Joel Chadwick, managing director of Chadwick Teamwear. “I was proud to visit the projects myself for the first time in October. It was both humbling and fascinating.

“It has also made me more determined that we need to take the lead, both as a business and as individuals, in playing our part to improve the way we operate environmentally. It’s a huge challenge, but one we must all start to take more responsibility for each day.”
