Neeva D London dresses

Occasionwear brand Neeva D London may be new to the childrenswear market, but it has been making a mark in the womenswear sector for nearly half a decade. London based fashion designer, Neeva-D, launched the label in 2015 after graduating in fashion and spending several years designing for high street brands.

She then became an international fashion consultant for the National Institute of Fashion in India, where she was born. It was at this stage, having observed her British and Indian cultures, that she discovered women’s confidence is an international language; one that she wanted to celebrate.

The hallmark of Neeva-D’s creations is a fusion of diverse, artistic elements. Architecture, ballet and western fashion silhouettes combined with the handcraftsmanship, flamboyant colours and exquisite fabrics of her birthplace, Kolkata (India). The result is a dual heritage brand born of Neeva-D’s multicultural upbringing between London and Kolkata.

Neeva-D set up her atelier in India and launched her first couture womenswear collection in 2015.

Neeva-D comments, “I am very fortunate to have been brought up in two distinctive cultures, British and Indian. I value both of them in equal measure. I channel the elegant silhouettes of western icons like Audrey Hepburn with the intricacies of Indian craftsmanship and storytelling. All whilst considering the practicalities of being a modern woman, no matter where you are.”

Each of the brand’s pieces is authentic, designed by Neeva-D, and carries the label’s trademarks: the mastery of Chantilly lace appliqué on fine satin or tulle; intricate hand embroidery and embellishment, and also discreet side pockets.

The success of the bespoke womenswear collection led to a ‘mini-me’ girlswear collection.

The brand’s childrenswear collection developed organically from the success of the womenswear. Customers began requesting ‘mini-me’ dresses for their daughters. Neeva D London received similar feedback at wedding trade shows and also from brides seeking ‘mini-me’ flower-girl dresses.

As an atelier, the brand knew it could meet these requests. And so, by being more sustainable with the fabrics it was already using, Neeva D London launched a small capsule of girls’ occasionwear.

Neeva D London unveiled its classic handcrafted dresses for girls in September 2020.

The childrenswear collection for 2 to 10 years offers timeless silhouettes in a classic colour palette and the finest, ethically sourced fabrics. It comprises 23 dresses – each with its own name and story behind it – together with hair accessories and statement pouch bags for all occasions. Each piece maintains Neeva D’s trademark style of intricate hand-embellishment, delicate Chantilly lace applique and discreetly hidden side pockets.

Neeva D London is also an ethical brand that prioritises giving back.

Each of its garments is handmade by artisans Neeva-D has personally discovered, trained and nurtured – many from Kolkata’s poorest backgrounds. The brand provides employment for parents as well as enabling their children to go to school. “Giving back to the community is hugely important to us as our brand grows,” says Neeva-D. “By educating a child, we can strengthen and empower a family to dream big and succeed in life.”

At the heart of Neeva D London lies a unique philosophy – conscious, affordable luxury with exclusive timeless design. This ethos also extends to the new childrenswear collection; providing world-class artistry with a practical, high-quality finish that is fitting for children.
