Bebies is a new sleep aid disguised as a plush toy, which sends babies to sleep calmly and easily thanks to its soothing sound system.
The idea came to founder Danielle Ekert when she gave birth to her baby boy, William. After spending countless hours trying to get him to sleep, she quickly realised he would only settle when hearing her voice.
She trawled the internet trying to find something to replicate her voice and was surprised to find nothing similar existed. So, when the first lockdown hit and Danielle was made redundant, she began researching the concept and launched the business.
Bebies’ sound system lets parents record settling words, sounds or songs in their voice.
The comforting sounds of their parent quickly soothes babies, helping them drift off to sleep. The system also offers a choice of the Bebies lullaby or white noise, which have a calming effect and aid peaceful sleep.
A built-in sensor activates as soon as the baby wakes or stirs and Bebies starts to work. There are three volume settings and the recording can run for 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The soft toys are available in a choice of four animal friends; Milo the Monkey, Dusty the Donkey, Hettie the Hippo and also Felix the Fox.
Designed to be an all-in-one sleep toy, they can be loved, played with and used as a comforter. In addition to being machine washable, the toys feature straps that attach to a car seat and pushchair as well as a cot for safe sleeping. There’s also a dummy holder and even a glow-in-the-dark tag to help parents easily locate the toy.
