Girl wearing Lilly + Sid childrenswear

Long summer days by the British coast or strawberry picking further inland, childrenswear brand Lilly + Sid has taken inspiration from the local environment for its s/s 22 collection. Brighton beach inspires the girls’ collection, combining a candy cane colour palette with sun bleached brights.

New fabrics include stripe seersucker and cheesecloth jersey, all in GOTS certified organic cotton. Meanwhile, amongst the prints and appliques for 0-8 years are beach huts, seahorses and mermaids. Key shapes include vintage-inspired playsuits, ruffle front tops and on-trend dresses, providing a multi-wear collection to be worn for any occasion.

Another highlight for girls is the grow-your-own-inspired pieces.

A strawberry fields print is key for the season, as are relaxed tiered silhouettes with broderie trims, shirring and checks inspired by picnic lunches feasting on home-grown fayre. 3-D daisy trims are also a pretty nod to British Summer Time.

Furthermore, the mix-and-match collections are bigger than ever, building on the sales success of previous seasons. Multipack options offer great value and the opportunity to create outfits throughout the ranges. Fresh prints, stripes and trims bring newness to these easy-wear separates that will be worn again and again; a sustainable fashion solution for the conscious consumer.

It’s down to the coast for the boys’ collection too, with a new take on nautical for 0-8 years.

No aeroplanes this year. Instead, a long road trip inspires the Traffic Jam print for both baby and older boys. Elsewhere, sea friends are ready to play alongside anchors and ship motifs. Meanwhile, retro fairground typeface conveys uplifting messages for summer fun. New characters include Lenny Lion and the Diving Dinos.

Printing techniques bring new ways to wear motifs including dip dye, back printing and screen prints onto woven chambray. Printed bottoms and tops allow on-trend head-to-toe pattern styling. There is the option of plain coordinates as well, for a pared-back look.

The brand is also extending multi-wear dressing this season.

Reversible and roll hem styles give two looks in one; ideal for sustainable style solutions, whatever the weather. Lilly + Sid’s exclusive woven check is fully reversible and gives the option of sibling twinning through the collections. From baby rompers to older boys’ shorts, there are multiple coordinating separates to choose from.

The all-in-one trend also continues to grow momentum, taking inspiration from the trend for easy dressing solutions. Bubble rompers, dungarees and playsuits can all be worn alone or layered up over tops for cooler days.

Finally, this season also sees the largest collection for baby girls and boys. An increased number of sets in the 0-2 years category presents value for money as well as easy dressing solutions for baby and toddler. Ideal for gifting, they sit alongside the brand’s ready-made gift sets, all featuring organic fabrics and Azo-free dyestuffs.

Finally, Lilly + Sid is partnering up with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH).

The partnership sees the brand launch a new moon and stars baby gift set in collaboration with GOSH, whereby it will donate 50% of its profits to the charity. Commenting on the partnership is Lilly + Sid founder, Imran Hassan.

“It has been an honour for us to collaborate with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. This children’s hospital provides treatment for children across the world. Charities have been hit hard by the pandemic, and we are pleased to be able to help give seriously ill children a better future. Our GOSH gift set is a lovely option for both boys and girls and we will donate 50% of our profits to the charity.”
