Established in September 2021, Eco Baby Box is a boutique for 0 to 4 years based in Ottery St Mary, a small town in East Devon. Business owner Nicci Simpson wanted a career she could design around raising her son Ollie, who is a lockdown baby. The result is a new business venture as well as the creation of a space that allows Ollie to play and be present. The rustic space is bright and inviting – a home from home for all that visit – including an area for children to keep busy while their parents or grandparents shop.

Eco Baby Box offers baby essentials including clothing, soft toys, dribble bibs, hooded bath towels, organic skincare and teething products. There are also gift boxes and hampers available. Brands, meanwhile, include Pigeon, Kite, Ilo, Little Green Radicals, Tick It toys, Classic World, Jumini and Natruba.

The store is a hub of activity when it comes to engaging with the community. Highlights include baby developmental classes, Montessori-inspired play sessions and ‘nibble and natter’ for parents, carers and children. Simpson is also looking at running first aid for kids as well as craft sessions. Plus, she collaborates with local businesses, and for every sale donates £1 to the Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal charity.

In addition to the boutique, Eco Baby Box sells online. Plans for the business include opening a further store as well as branching into selling men’s and women’s fashion.
