This year’s Schoolwear Show will provide a helping hand to charities, including Goods for Good, by connecting them with the industry’s key suppliers and retailers. Alongside children’s charity Sal’s Shoes, Goods For Good will be given a stand at this year’s show to provide visitors and exhibitors with more information about its work.

Goods For Good was set up in 2014 with a clear mission − to alleviate poverty and reduce waste. The charity redistributes overstocked and unwanted goods, including school uniform and sportswear, to help improve lives whilst also reducing waste and the negative impact it has. To date, Goods for Good has supported over 3.5 million vulnerable people in 26 countries across the world, delivering over £35 million worth of aid.

How can the schoolwear industry help?

School uniforms and sportswear are desperately needed by many families in the UK and across the globe. Goods for Good brings a huge amount of dignity to those who are simply unable to afford to buy new.

In the UK, the charity provides non-logoed school uniforms to those in desperate need, including children of asylum seekers, refugees and evacuees. The goods are surplus stock provided by schoolwear suppliers such as Price & Buckland, Taylor Made Uniforms Ltd, Uniform 4 Kids, and Top of the Class School Uniform. Across the globe, it sends overstock new uniforms with logos to vulnerable communities in countries including Moldova and Africa.

 

 

Among the many projects the charity works with is the North Western Zambia Sports Kit Distribution, which supports schools that in some cases have no form of PE kit or sports equipment. Goods for Good also supplied a large amount of schoolwear to the Mumba Children’s Project. The initiative facilitates and supports the needs of children, particularly in Africa. This includes providing at least one meal per day, clean water, education and healthcare.
