Finnsøn, a new luxury, sustainable brand of changing bags and accessories, has received a Recycling Heroes Award from the Global Recycling Foundation. The small business started by two mothers designs baby bags out of recycled PET to provide stylish, sustainable options to reduce ocean plastic and landfill.

Finnsøn was one of 10 winners of the 2023 award and the only UK company. Winners were selected from nominations by individuals and business leaders, sole traders, corporates and multinationals that demonstrate both creativity and innovation in promoting the value of recycling in the toughest of economic climates.

This year’s awards focused on creativity in the areas of ‘reuse,’ ‘reduce’ and ‘recycle,’ promoting resource efficiency, waste reduction and increased use of The Seventh Resource essential raw material for the industry.

Commenting on the awards is Ranjit Baxi, founding president of the Global Recycling Foundation (GRF).

“The creativity of this year’s winners shows what we all can do to promote recycling when every regulatory and financial obstacle seems to have been placed in their way.

“When other priorities are confronting individuals and businesses, it is inspiring to see what our award winners are achieving around the world. GRF pays tribute to the example they are showing us all in the face of exceptional challenges as they uphold their focus on protecting the environment upon which we all depend.”

The Global Recycling Foundation supports the promotion of recycling and the recycling industry across the world, showcasing its vital role in preserving the future of the planet. It promotes Global Recycling Day as well as other educational programmes, awareness projects and innovation initiatives that focus on the sustainable and inclusive development of recycling.
