Jodi Gill and Richard Hinchliffe launched The Little People Store online in August 2022 with the long-term goal of opening a bricks and mortar shop. Their vision was to have a retail space with an additional chillout area for customers to relax and have a coffee while their children play. Although a shop wasn’t on this year’s agenda, when the perfect space became available, the couple went for it.

Opening in April, The Little People Store is situated in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. Offering a calm and inviting space, it is home to clothing for newborn to age 12 years. Alongside the clothing are practical gifts including sensory bottles, craft kits, hair accessories, wooden toys and teddies. Plus, newborn essentials such as dummies, mats and muslins.

There is also a wellness section for all ages featuring yoga mats, yoga dice, affirmation cards and journals. Brands are chosen for four things − being sustainable, independent, UK and handmade. The store’s current brand portfolio includes Big Stuffed, Another Fox, Grass & Air, Etta Loves and Fable & Bear, plus many more. The couple is also creating their own brand of clothing.

The Little People Store keeps it local when sourcing the coffee, bakes and pastries for the shop. It also collaborates with fellow local businesses on events. This includes hosting a monthly coffee morning with Morning MAMA, which arranges social meetups for mums in the community
