CWB editor Laura Turner selects five children’s brands to watch.

Dubs Universe

New kids’ sneaker brand Dubs (pictured above) offers a truly circular, sustainable footwear solution. It produces in small batches using recycled materials and prevents its outgrown shoes going to landfill by donating them to children in need via a charity partnership with Sals Shoes. New styles for s/s 24 are Dubs Glide, a modern take on the double velcro adjustable strap style in recycled leather; Dubs Stomp, a single fat velcro adjustable strap style made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic bottles; and Dubs Bounce, a hybrid high-top sneaker blending flyknit techniques and recycled leather. All styles feature Green™ bio-based sugarcane EVA soles.

Minimi

Amongst the new exhibitors at INDX Kids in July was the girlswear brand Minimi. A small, family company, Minimi was established in 1991 in Poland where it has its own manufacturing base. Catering for girls aged 0-13 years, the brand manages the entire production process for its collections, from design to cutting and finishing. Minimi specialises in special occasionwear − primarily dresses – and favours simple yet elegant cuts alongside fabrics enriched with sophisticated, delicate details.

My Little Pie is a Ukrainian childrenswear brand for newborn to 14 years specialising in unique, illustrated prints on organic cotton. Established in 2014 by Marina Markova, who rented a room and bought a sewing machine to start her business, the brand has since grown to have a client base all over the world, distributors in 14 countries, as well as its own factory and branded stores. My Little Pie produces two collections per year with updated prints. Collections comprise simple, comfortable garments including rompers, bodysuits, dresses and pyjamas alongside accessories such as hats, booties and bibs. In addition to Oeko-Tex certifications, My Little Pie is accredited by the European Paediatric Association.

Pure Earth Collection

Pure Earth Collection makes natural, non-toxic children’s products for 0-12 years. Previously trading as Little Earth Baby, the company changed its name due to overwhelming customer demand for items for older kids, as their babies started to grow up. The simple and timeless range of award-winning children’s products uses sustainable and biodegradable materials with no nasty chemicals. Highlights include baby and children’s bedding (sleeping bags and blankets); soft toys and playmats; organic cotton clothing and accessories, and kids’ travel beds and blackout blinds.
