Children’s audio brand, tonies®, has launched Book Pocket Tonies, a new range of unabridged audiobook Tonies for older children featuring titles and authors for 5-10 year-olds. Book Pocket Tonies have collectable appeal and have been designed to look like miniature books.
The Book Pocket Tonie collection launches with 20 titles from bestselling authors including Tom Fletcher, David Walliams, Adam Kay, Enid Blyton, Dav Pilkey and Andrea Beaty, with many more titles launching in 2025.
Book Pocket Tonies are the latest addition to tonies® Pocket Tonie collection, which launched this August with the educational Clever Pocket Tonie range, marking one of tonies® most successful launches to date.
According to a recent Nielsen report, audiobooks have increased in popularity in the UK, with an additional 800,000 children listening to audiobooks from 2019-2023. The report revealed that children were turning off TV screens in favour of audiobooks, offering a lifeline to parents battling to limit screen time in the family home.
In the 5-7 year age range, the proportion of girls watching TV each week fell by 6%, with a 10% increase in audiobook use. There was also a 7% drop in boys watching TV weekly, with an increase of 4% in audiobook engagement.
