Boosted by a recent appearance on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, innovative sports accessory brand Laceeze and its sister brand Defiance are making waves in the children’s apparel and accessories sector.
In the series opener, Emma Burke, a mum of two and the driving force behind both brands, secures investment from retail heavyweight Touker Suleyman, leading to fresh product development and rapid growth.
Originally known for its signature Laceeze bands designed to keep shoelaces secure during sport, the business has expanded its offering to meet the growing demand for practical, high-performance accessories for active children.

The range now includes grip socks, compression shorts, thermal gloves, snoods and base layers. Plus, new Defiance Fresh pouches to eliminate kit bag odours.
The concept for Laceeze came to Burke while watching her son’s football match, where loose shoelaces were constantly stopping play. Frustrated by the disruption, she set out to create a practical solution.
After lengthy research and product development, the bestselling Laceeze band was eventually born. Made from durable, high-quality silicone, each band features a patented grip design that keeps laces firmly in place, no matter how active a child is on the pitch.
Designed to fit over most trainers and football boots, they’re easy to use, reusable and built to withstand the rigours of a variety of sports. What started as a fix for her own children’s kit has quickly become a must-have for parents, coaches and young athletes across the world.
Burke’s ambitions show no sign of slowing, with new products in the pipeline signalling strong opportunities for retailers seeking well-designed, functional gear for the youth sports market. With both brands gaining traction and product lines diversifying, Laceeze and Defiance are positioning themselves as key players in the children’s activewear space.
