Schoolwear specialist Trutex has been named ‘Best Hidden Gem’ in the MadeForMums School Uniform Awards 2025. The win recognises the brand’s dedication to delivering high-quality, durable and thoughtfully designed school uniforms loved by families across the UK. Established in 1865 in Clitheroe, Lancashire, Trutex has been a trusted name in schoolwear for over a century and a half. The company’s dedication to producing garments that stand the test of time has earned it a reputation for quality and durability.
Having won the ‘Best for Durability’ Gold award in the MadeForMums School Uniform Awards 2024, this year Trutex stood out among 13 retailers to receive the highest overall score for quality, value and durability. Parent testers praised the brand’s attention to detail, with many noting the professional finish and thoughtful extras such as laundry care cards and first-day tags. One parent tester says, “The quality is far better than the supermarket ranges we’ve tried. The stitching, thickness and construction felt noticeably better.”
Trutex designs uniforms with both parents and children in mind.
As parents look to try and make sustainable choices, features like sturdy seams, long-lasting colours and comfortable fabrics ensure children can wear their uniforms with confidence throughout the school day, year, and hopefully pass them on for another child to wear. The inclusion of practical elements such as deep hems and adjustable waistbands also allows for growth and extended wear.
Commenting on the win is Group CEO, Matthew Easter. “We’re honoured to receive the ‘Best Hidden Gem’ award from MadeForMums. This recognition reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, durable school uniforms that families can rely on. Through our Made to Last pledge, we continue to focus on creating long-lasting products to meet the needs of families across the UK and future generations.”
