The UK’s most inspirational small businesses have been confirmed, as Small Business Britain reveals its 2026 Small Awards shortlist, which includes sustainable childrenswear brand Little Scandi Baby.
Nearly 90 small firms are in the running as finalists for this year’s Small Awards, which celebrate the nation’s outstanding small business community and their successes, resilience and community contributions.
The annual Small Awards – celebrating a decade of rewarding the nation’s best small companies this year – are organised by Small Business Britain, which champions, inspires and accelerates small businesses in the UK. This year was a record-breaker, with thousands of entries across 11 categories.

Commenting is Michelle Ovens CBE, founder of Small Business Britain.
“Small businesses are the engine of the nation’s economy, and we are so proud to have spent a decade championing them in our Small Awards. Each year, we are delighted to see hundreds of entries spanning every sector imaginable.
“These organisations bring jobs and community to their local areas and deserve their contributions to be recognised. We are thrilled with this year’s shortlist and to have seen a record number of entries. We look forward to meeting our finalists in person in May.”

Little Scandi Baby is a nominee for the New Kid on the Block Award, which honours the most outstanding start-up established within the past 18 months that has shown significant growth and development.
Susan Pang established Little Scandi Baby in 2024, offering sustainable essentials and clothing for babies and children. Drawing inspiration from her Danish heritage and lifestyle, she infuses this ethos into the Little Scandi Baby collection. Her personal fertility journey and the experience of conceiving have also profoundly shaped how she approaches designing for the next generation.
She believes that if individuals and businesses pause to reflect on the processes behind creation, it is possible to make a tangible difference – not only for today’s children but for future generations. As a founder and maker, Pang only works with manufacturers who share her values, ensuring every choice prioritises consumers’ wellbeing.
Starting with bibs, the collection has since expanded to cover newborn to eight years, featuring muslin feeding blankets, security comforters, baby shower mittens, pacifier clips and kids’ vests, with mother and daughter matching vests currently in the pipeline. The brand features a clean look with neutral, soft tones, simple patterns, and a timeless Scandinavian minimalist style.

Pang comments on Little Scandi Baby’s award nomination.
“When I heard about the Small Awards, I was instantly drawn to the ethos behind it and reading further about the New Kid on the Block category, I just felt – this is me. I applied without hesitation. Ultimately, it would mean so much to be recognised for the hard work and determination that goes into running a small business, especially with such a strong mission at heart.
“What I do isn’t just a job anymore. It’s a mission and a vision for what Little Scandi Baby can become, in collaboration with brands who share the same values and purpose, and who care just as deeply about the next generation and the generations to come.”
