A table displaying a children's tableware set by Forivor and Villa Bologna Pottery

British children’s brand Forivor and Malta’s historic Villa Bologna Pottery have joined forces to create a children’s tableware set that turns mealtimes into a game. The collaboration is a meeting of two brands united by a deep love of craft, illustration, and the unexpected.

The set comprises a plate, bowl and mug, each hand-painted in Villa Bologna Pottery’s studio in Attard, Malta, where artisans have been practising their craft since 1924. But what makes this collection stand out is its sense of play: as the cup is moved and repositioned, the illustrations combine and recombine to create entirely new creatures.

The concept was conceived by Alice Ruby Ross, co-founder and illustrator of Forivor, drawing on the Victorian parlour game of Consequences, favoured by the Surrealists as a tool for unlocking endless imaginative possibilities. It sits naturally within Forivor’s wider philosophy – that children who develop rich creative minds when they are young, will carry that curiosity and wonder with them throughout their lives.

Each piece in the set is unique, hand-painted by Villa Bologna Pottery’s skilled team of artisans, ensuring that no two sets are ever quite the same. Commenting is Alice Ruby Ross, co-founder of Forivor.

“The idea of transformation runs through Forivor, and we found our collaboration with Villa Bologna Pottery the perfect way to create a three-dimensional game that can change with the turn of the cup or bowl. I loved the idea of children being playful while having their cornflakes or dinner. It’s been a delight to see how Villa Bologna Pottery works and how their amazing team of artisans have brought my illustrations and the idea to life.”
