British family-run toy company Le Toy Van has acquired premium plush toy brand Pickles (formerly known as Mr Pickles), marking a new chapter for the business and its first major move into the plush category.

The acquisition comes at a time of strong growth for Le Toy Van, which has enjoyed year-on-year growth in recent years and expanded its team with nine new hires over the past 12 months.

With its wooden toys now sold in more than 150 countries worldwide, the company sees significant potential to introduce Pickles to its established network of international customers, distributors and retail partners.

Pickles is known for its distinctive plush characters, strong quality and timeless design. The brand represents a natural progression for Le Toy Van, whose extensive wooden toy collection already complements plush play.

Commenting is Steven Le Van, managing director of Le Toy Van.

“There is a real demand for beautifully designed, sustainable toys, and we’re incredibly excited to bring Pickles into the Le Toy Van family. The Wall Street Journal has even described our wooden toys as ‘works of art,’ and we see that same attention to design and character in Pickles. It’s such a strong brand, the designs are beautiful, and we can’t wait to carry it further and share it with the world.”

Sustainability remains central to Le Toy Van’s approach as the business expands its portfolio.

Le Toy Van makes all products from FSC®-certified wood and presents them in plastic-free, recyclable packaging, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to creating products that are better for children and the planet.

The company sees significant opportunities for the two brands to complement one another, with Pickles’ plush toys sitting naturally alongside Le Toy Van’s doll houses, role-play sets, furniture and accessories.

The company will showcase the newly expanded range at Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg and the London Toy Fair, and will offer an exclusive first look at selected Pickles products next month at Top Drawer London.

With the acquisition, Le Toy Van is continuing its evolution from a specialist wooden toy company into a broader destination for beautifully designed, responsible and imaginative children’s products, while retaining the creativity, quality and sustainability values that have defined the business for more than 30 years.
