Banner Ltd has announced its acquisition of William Turner Ltd, the specialist supplier of school ties, bags and accessories. The purchase will complement Banner’s current range, widening its offer to retailers and schools and reaffirming its commitment to the schoolwear industry. The company has confirmed that William Turner will operate as a distinct division of Banner, retaining both its brand identity and current management team.

Commenting on the news is Glenn Leech, CEO of Banner. “We’ve long admired William Turner as a business and a brand. It’s a well-run operation with values that we share and a reputation for excellent service. In joining forces, we bring together two market-leading businesses with complementary product ranges. It’s an ideal match which supports our ambition to grow in a way that’s beneficial for all stakeholders.”

Looking to the future, Leech continues.

“William Turner will operate as a separate trading division of Banner. The Group can provide access to investment, additional capabilities and central support, while the business will retain its distinctive character and focus. In this regard, I’m delighted that Dan Turner will remain as managing director, supported by John Turner as operations and production director, and Andy Smith as sales director.”

Writing to customers and suppliers, Banner says there are no plans to alter William Turner’s trading arrangements. The priority for both businesses is working to deliver excellent service during the critical summer peak, with a message of “business as usual” to colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Reinforcing these comments, Dan Turner, says; “We are delighted to have joined the Banner Group. In selling our business, John and I sought a partner that has strong values and good people. We’ve found that in Banner, and I’m looking forward to working with Glenn and his team.”

The transaction was completed on 30 June 2022.
