Visitors inside the National Exhibition and Convention Center NECC in Shanghai for CHIC

This month’s CHIC Shanghai, which ran from 17-19 March, is reporting visitor numbers comparable to the pre-pandemic level of March 2019. Taking place alongside Intertextile Yarn Expo and PH Value at the National Exhibition and Convention Center NECC in Shanghai, it recorded a total of 88,103 visitors.

In total, the trade show hosted 905 exhibitors with 932 brands across 10 event areas: CHIC KIDZ (kidswear); CHIC Men’s; CHIC Women’s; CHIC Impulses (designer); CHIC YOUNG BLOOD (streetwear); CHIC Accessories; Shoes and Bags; CHIC Tailoring; CHIC Winter’s (fur and leather goods); CHIC Sourcing – Superior Factory / Denim; and also, CHIC Sourcing – Future Link (innovations for fashion and retail).

CHIC was once again also a trend catalyst for the Chinese fashion market. New products in the children’s fashion sector included swinging silhouettes for girls as well as fancy sweatshirts and jeans for boys.

Commenting on the event is Chen Dapeng, President of the China National Garment Association and CHIC. “CHIC has once again proven itself to be the most important business platform and trendsetter in the industry. The trade fair gives a condensed overview of current market developments, bundles all resources, and provides the participants with the necessary network. CHIC keeps its finger on the pulse and is the leading trade fair for trade and industry.”

The CHIC & GFS (Green Fashion Society) area was of particular importance this edition.

Centrally placed in the fair, the artists Ma Defan and Li Haitao designed their artistic concept on the subject of CHIC GARDEN. Focus was on the installation “Growth”, using old clothes and fibre by artist Ma Defan. Ma Defan is committed to sustainable development in China and is involved in projects such as GREEN NEXT, a Chinese online and offline platform for developing sustainable solutions for both fashion and lifestyle.

Furthermore, the CHIC match-making events increased from 20 meetings at the last fair to 54 meetings this edition. The CHIC APP also supported the service in advance, optimising networking at the fair.

Meanwhile, the CHIC Talk discussion forum offered visitors a platform for exchanging information on current market developments. The nine seminar topics included “How to make entertainment marketing under the domestic fashion trend” and “Apparel Manufacturing – from lean production to digitalization”. Also, “Digital solutions for the garment production chain”.

The next CHIC will take place from 25-27 August 2021 in Shanghai. For further information, please click here.
