Ismay Mummery, founder and MD of sustainable boys’ fashion brand Boy Wonde

Ismay Mummery, founder and MD of sustainable boys’ fashion brand Boy Wonder, is a finalist in the LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards. Mummery was one of three finalists in the Innovation in Creative Industries category, which had the most entrants this year. The accolade is in recognition of Mummery’s innovations in her sustainable fashion business and products.

The LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards 2022 celebrate the very best technology, services, digital advances, and creative thinking that the region has to offer. It celebrates the individuals, teams, businesses and public sector bodies that are leading the way in research and development and manufacturing techniques, software and digital technologies. Alongside this, it also honours the engineers and construction specialists who are shaping the world.

The award ceremony took place late last month at the King Power stadium.

Mummery founded Boy Wonder in 2016. Ethically made in Britain, the brand has a strong sustainability ethos, using organic cotton and chemical-free prints. Plus, it provides repair kits and care guides to give shoppers the tools to care for the garments.

The brand also offers a take-back and resell scheme via its webshop; has committed to an annual production limit, and will be stocking limited-edition, customised secondhand garments. Finally, Boy Wonder also works with Sharewear Clothing Scheme. It collects and donates unwanted garments leftover from its clothing swaps and collection drives to Sharewear to support people in need. It is also a Sharewear Champion in Leicestershire, helping the charity to find new networks.
