Uniforms for Uniforms advert image

On Friday 1 May, children of Clayesmore School will unite from their homes by wearing their school uniform to show their gratitude to frontline workers in uniform in a ‘reverse mufti fundraising day’.

Commenting on the Uniforms for Uniforms campaign is Clayesmore’s head, Mrs Jo Thomson. “We want to encourage every school and every pupil of every year group up and down the country to join our #uniformsforuniforms campaign and wear their school uniform on Friday 1 May to show our appreciation for NHS staff and key workers in uniform.

“We’ve seen wonderful national moments of thanks with Clap for Carers and the astonishing efforts of Captain Tom. This is for the children of Britain to show their thanks and raise some much-needed funds for the NHS.

“The current situation has been incredibly hard on children of all ages. For some, it has been a very worrying and lonely time. We want to remind them that they are not alone and how proud Britain is that they have been able to adapt in order to keep learning from home.

“This is a moment for them to realise how important their efforts are to the national fight against Covid-19 and stand proudly together with school children everywhere.”

How to get involved

Everyone will be familiar with the obligatory Back to School photos that parents post on social media of their children proudly posing in their uniforms. Clayesmore School wants to recreate this on Friday 1 May.

Parents can post pictures of their children in uniforms on Instagram tagging #uniformsforuniforms. The goal is to create a virtual school photo from the posts to record this monumental time in their lives; something children can show their grandchildren in years to come.

The campaign invites families to donate £1 as you would on a school mufti day by texting ‘UNIFORM’ to 70450. However, the donation is entirely optional and is per household, not per child. The money raised from the campaign will go to the NHS Charities Together – Covid 19 Urgent Appeal.

Located in Dorset, Clayesmore is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school for 2 to 18 year olds. For further information, please click here.
