The Conscious Fashion Campaign, an initiative founded by social entrepreneur Kerry Bannigan to accelerate fashion industry action in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is hosting a virtual educational experience in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships. Titled ‘Discover the Sustainable Development Goals – To Make Peace With Nature’, the programme runs from 1-30 April 2021.

Discover the SDGs, supported by Arch and Hook, bluesign and also Lenzing, will comprise 30 days free access to exhibitions, talks, podcasts and learning tools as well as documentaries; all responding to the United Nations Secretary-General’s 2021 priority ‘to make peace with nature’. The aim is to strengthen engagement from the global fashion sector to further support the SDGs; the 17 urgent calls to action for a better world that have been adopted by all United Nations Member States. The on-demand program includes:

Textile Mountain

The Textile Mountain documentary highlights both the social and environmental cost of the second-hand clothing trade. It traces the path of unwanted garments from recycling bins in Europe to landfills and waterways in the Global South. Shot in Kenya, Ireland and Belgium, the film calls on us to reimagine the way we design, wear and also reuse our clothes, so that fashion waste no longer becomes another country’s burden.

Our Planet: Our Business

Inspired by the Netflix series Our Planet, this film takes a look into how the global business community can be a powerful force to drive rehabilitative action for nature. Expert perspectives are offered by WWF executive director of Science and Conservation, Mike Barrett; Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact research director, Johan Rockström; SDG Advocate, Hindou Ibrahim; Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra; UNFCCC former executive secretary, Christiana Figueres; TESCO Group CEO, Dave Lewis; and also Costa Rica President, Carlos Alvadaro Quesada.
