Eco-uniform supplier David Luke has become a member of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI). ETI membership will help David Luke to trade ethically as well as make a positive difference to workers’ lives.
The ETI Base Code is an internationally recognised set of labour standards based on ILO conventions. ETI members and others use the Base Code to drive improvements in working conditions around the world.
“By working with the Ethical Trading Initiative we hope to gain more insights into workers within our supply chain,” says David Luke’s managing director, Kathryn Shuttleworth. “Also, to develop a better ethical trade strategy, fully map our supply chain and commit further to responsible practices.”
David Luke’s Eco story
David Luke’s pioneering Eco story started in 2010. It was the first business within the schoolwear industry to introduce recycled polyester to its product portfolio, launching the Eco Blazer in 2010.
Today the company’s Eco-uniform made from 100% recycled plastic bottles extends across all trousers, shorts, skirts, sweatshirts and polo shirts.
Furthermore, David Luke is currently the only schoolwear brand to achieve SCS Global Services certification that the polyester fabrics it uses in its Eco-uniform contain post-consumer waste.
