Ducky Zebra Childrenswear store front

Ducky Zebra, the sustainable and colourful childrenswear brand for 0-6 years, has once again taken a pop-up in the Oxford John Lewis. Founded during the pandemic by mum-of-two Sally Dear, the company has a mission to inspire kindness and confidence in children, no matter what their gender, through its clothing.

Ducky Zebra’s unisex designs are free from gender stereotypes. For instance, pinks for girls and blues for boys. However, rather than sticking to beige and muted tones, the brand’s clothing is fun, colourful, and approved by children themselves.

Ducky Zebra uses GOTS certified organic cotton. It also incorporates innovative features, such as two-way zips for easy dressing and roll-down cuffs to give extra length as the child grows. Furthermore, every item includes a splash ‘power button’, often hidden inside a pocket. This acts as a physical reminder for children to splash kindness and confidence, even at times when it might be hard.

The brand also gives back by donating £1 to charity for every garment sold.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Ducky Zebra to pop up in the Oxford John Lewis,” says brand founder, Sally Dear. “It’s a great example of how a large, established brand can help support a small start-up. And how a small start-up can add vibrancy and uniqueness in return. We had a brilliant experience in their store previously, and can’t wait to feel a part of their team again. We look forward to welcoming customers to our stand.”

Also commenting is Danny Foreham-Fish, branch manager for John Lewis Oxford. “We’re really excited to welcome Ducky Zebra’s pop-up shop this summer; a fun and colourful local business that supports sustainable fashion, which we know will be a huge hit with our customers.”

Ducky Zebra’s pop-up is located on the upper ground floor of Oxford John Lewis, Westgate and will be available until 17 July.

Ducky Zebra has also previously run a pop-up shop in The Oxford Covered Market through the Meanwhile in Oxfordshire programme. The brand plans to continue its hybrid approach of selling online complemented by regular pop-ups.

Dear continues; “It’s brilliant to meet customers in person; to hear their stories and allow them to touch and feel our clothes. We’re a new start-up and not yet in a position to have our own permanent store. Running a pop-up is the perfect alternative solution, and we’re so grateful to John Lewis for the opportunity.”
