Polarn O. Pyret (PO.P) has confirmed the arrival of PO.P Second Hand. The move puts the brand another step closer to closing its circular fashion model; further strengthening its eco credentials and commitment to the planet.

The new service, which is available across the UK, welcomes customers to return outgrown children’s outerwear such as coats, waterproofs and snow overalls in exchange for a cash voucher. Each item will be assessed and re-sold at special pre-loved events throughout the year, both in-store and online.

A 10% increase in second hand sales could save 3% Carbon, 4% water and 1% waste, per tonne of clothing.

PO.P Second Hand will also minimise the hassle of selling items online. It couldn’t be easier to use and offers free postage through the returns service. Customers simply email the brand with images and details of what they wish to return.

Commenting about the latest sustainability initiative is Mats Nilsson, Polarn O. Pyret’s UK MD. “PO.P has led the way for sustainable kidswear for decades, with organic fabrics being introduced as early as the 80s now making up 100% of our cotton offer. Providing an easy access re-sale service to our UK customers prolongs the lifespan of our products and decreases our common environmental footprint. Our planet goes round and round, and so should our clothes.”

The brand plans to extend the PO.P Second Hand service to include collection and cotton garments as soon as next year.

Since 1976, PO.P has been committed to making high-quality clothes that last a long time. Nilsson states, “60% of our clothes are used by three or more different children”. The brand is famous for designing comfortable clothes that are durable and have features such as roll-down cuffs to make them last.

In addition to the Second Hand service, PO.P Repairs is also available. This free service is to fix zips and broken poppers. Finally, the brand has also joined the rental market. It is doing this via a partnership with The Little Loop, offering clothing and outerwear for all seasons.
