Trade charity the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT) has once again launched its annual school uniform grants programme. The service aims to help low-income families working in the UK fashion and textile industry with Back to School costs.
With the cost of living crisis causing significant strain on families across the country, the team at FTCT are keen that no fashion or textile employee is left struggling to meet their children’s uniform needs.
Commenting is Anna Pangbourne, CEO of the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust.
“It’s only May, and already we are hearing from industry families who are concerned about the cost of uniform their children will need for September. That’s where our grants can really help. By funding items including uniform, PE kits and laptops for homework, we can ensure children are starting school feeling confident and ready for learning, despite their home circumstances.”
In the last 12 months, FTCT funded more than £100,000 worth of school uniform to help children and young people whose parents work for fashion and textile companies. With so many families already contacting them, the charity expects to fund even more this year.
Grants are available for children aged 0-18 years whose parent/carer works or has previously worked for a UK fashion or textile company for at least one year. More details on the school uniform grants can be found on the FTCT website together with ways you can get involved and help support the charity.
