Gingersnaps

Now well established at Pitti Bimbo, Gingersnaps (pictured above) continues to build on its reputation and commitment to develop as a global brand. The company has over 100 mono-brand boutiques and multi-brand stores across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. With new representatives in China, HK, Taiwan and Macau, as well as recently adding Spain and other parts of Europe, the brand’s focus for the rest of 2024 is finding an agent or distributor in the UK. Using premium fabrics with the utmost attention to detail, the collection ranges from casual to special occasionwear for boys and girls. For a/w 24, the brand goes on a bohemian and whimsical adventure inspired by the Great Outdoors, including log cabins and wild animals. Amid the stand-out items are retro check jackets with cord trim and embroidery, collegiate colour block knits, and coloured metallic separates for girls. We love the eclectic fabric and style mixing with a casual yet contemporary vibe.

Haidænd`si:k

This creative new children’s clothing collection was launched at Pitti Bimbo this season from designers new to the kidswear market but with 30 years’ experience in the fashion industry. Innovative design, luxury and sustainability are the hallmarks of the collection. For a/w 24, oversized silhouettes contrast with narrower ones, layering knits, wovens and outerwear. High-quality handmade fabrics and cashmere knitwear are a fundamental part of the collection, as is the attention to detail for trims and accessories. Specially designed buttons, 3D origami paper boats, crinkle dye finishes for denim, and embroidered elements are all key. The colour palette, meanwhile, is inspired by nature: neutral shades of stone, grey, brown, and ecru are combined with stronger tones of yellow, terracotta and pink, with blues hinting at sunrises and sunsets. We love the playful proportions and details, especially the bright yellow chunky cropped knits.

Ligne Noire Enfants

Ligne Noire is a contemporary Italian knitwear brand for children. Founded in 2019, this is its first time in the Apartment area of Pitti Bimbo. With sizing from 1-11 years, many of the colourful pieces are unisex and allow for creatively colourful dressing. With a nostalgic feel, each garment celebrates the traditional skills of Italian knitters. Yarns are natural, cruelty-free and come from manufacturers in Northern Italy. The theme of a/w 24 is Paradise, which can be an imaginary vintage shop in Milan, Paris, New York, or Tokyo. It can also be the place or the city that you adore, and where you would like to stay forever. The resulting 80s and 90s-inspired collection combines colours, stripes, jacquards and checks made of very soft Italian wool and cotton. We love the graphic checks and strong colour combinations.

Appulu

Appulu is a sustainable clothing brand from India that handcrafts each of its pieces using traditional techniques from diverse cultures. As a sustainable brand it uses both eco-friendly materials and ethical production practices. Green Warrior is the theme for the a/w 24 collection and takes inspiration from a young generation driven by passion and purpose, determined to make lasting change. Fabrics include 100% merino wool checks, handspun cotton, cashmere, silk, and cotton blends. A new development for this season is Ahimsa silk, also known as Eri silk. Its name derives from the Sanskrit term “Ahimsa,” meaning non-injury or non-violence. This silk variety stands out for its unique feature of being a staple fibre, unlike continuous filament silks. Notable for its coarse, fine and dense texture, Eri silk also boasts strength, durability and elasticity. Additionally, its isothermal properties make it cool in summer and warm in winter. The sustainable aspect of Eri silk lies in its support for traditional craftsmanship and local livelihoods. Its holistic, environmentally conscious production cycle contributes to the overall sustainability of the textile industry. We love the hand feel of the new silk quality as well as the collection’s colour palette of bright pink, red, ecru and black.

Alaya

Alaya appeared in The Nest section of Pitti Bimbo, which introduces new brands to buyers. Alaya’s vision is to create pieces that withstand the test of time. Nestled in the heart of Nepal, it takes pride in making clothing that embodies the essence of comfort, timeless style, and ethical craftsmanship. The cashmere yarn is sourced from the soft underbelly of Himalayan goats. The undyed process preserves the cashmere’s innate hues, ranging from creamy whites to earthy browns. It also embraces the natural beauty of the fibre without artificial enhancements. Beyond its tactile allure, this collection reflects a commitment to sustainability. It minimises the environmental impact associated with traditional dyeing processes, offering a conscious choice for parents seeking both luxury and eco-consciousness for their little ones. We love this new brand’s combination of ethics and quality.

Tetoi Vienna

This new collection for 0-6 years is a celebration of classic design with adorable details. Timeless in its appeal, creations are meant to transcend trends, becoming treasured pieces that capture the essence of childhood, embracing comfort and treading lightly on our planet. Produced in South Korea using delicate fibres such as TENCEL™ Lyocell, the garments are extremely soft and have a multitude of benefits including breathability and temperature regulation that adapts to every season. It is also eco-friendly, sourced from sustainably managed forests, and saves a lot of resources in water and pesticides compared to cotton. The fibre is created in a very innovative production process that recycles more than 99% of water and solvents used in production. To increase its green credentials, Tetoi Vienna also uses 100% green energy, recycled plastics for its packaging, recycled paper for its hang tags, and decomposable strings for attachment. All of these efforts led them to be invited to Austria’s biggest trade fair focusing on sustainability – the WeFair. We love Tetoi Vienna’s championing of such an eco-friendly material as the cornerstone of its collection.

Olandino

Born in Italy and shaped in the Netherlands, Olandino is a luxurious baby clothing brand inspired by the evolving eco-friendly, slow fashion initiative. Using responsibly sourced GOTS-certified organic cotton, it produces in small-batch collections. Reducing the use of water and textile waste by making limited collections and easily customised colour combinations, Nevena Mijailovic Kostira first came up with the idea of the unique Swopper feature upon stepping into the world of parenthood in 2018. “Everything started as an attempt to cope with the never-ending feed-take off-wash-repeat cycle every new parent gets to experience,” she says. Witnessing the distress her baby suffered during changing sessions also informed the design of an easily swappable bib section. As well as being more environmentally friendly, this allows for endless combinations of colours and designs. In addition to the styles already on offer in the range, it’s possible to customise with personalised embroidery. We love the addition of the knitwear collection in beautiful autumnal colours. Newly launched at Pitti Bimbo for a/w 24, it is already proving popular with buyers.

Eirene

Offering luxury childrenswear designed in London and made in the EU, Eirene sells to high-end boutiques worldwide including Harrods and Childrensalon in the UK. Eirene is committed to exclusive design, craftsmanship and premium quality. Back in 2017, Irene realised the world of kids’ fashion was missing chic, cutting-edge and inspiring clothes that fashion-forward mothers would love. So, she set out to launch her label. With immaculate attention to detail, the brand’s creative studio combines colour, print and embroidery into fairytale dresses and outfits for girls. The team designs prints in-house as well as experimenting with luxury fabrics and trims to surprise the customer and stand out from traditional designs. Constantly working on perfecting the tailoring, fit and cut of each garment, including couture-level detailing, most of the styles are finished by hand and are hand-embellished using experienced seamstresses and manufacturing in small factories in Bulgaria, supporting the local textile industry. Eirene also tries to use recycled and sustainable fabrics as well as natural materials such as cotton, silk, viscose and wool. We love the Alice in Wonderland capsule collection with its beautiful attention to detail and delicate colour palette.

Flower Mountain for Naturino

From nature, in nature: Flower Mountain for Naturino comes from the collaboration with the Japanese brand Flower Mountain. The basic idea behind Flower Mountain came from the search for a comfortable, relaxing lifestyle and the opportunity to fully enjoy it. The colours, use of Japanese fabrics and the high quality of craftsmanship are the brand’s distinctive signature, yet the Japanese tradition merges with urban traits. The mission is to bring people closer together – and closer to nature – through beautiful footwear, apparel and accessories inspired by the natural world. It draws inspiration from the cycles of nature, using naturalistic motifs and bright colours. New for kids for a/w 24 is the capsule clothing collection, which celebrates a similar Japanese aesthetic to the footwear collection. We love the wool check sleeveless jacket made for layering with the signature flower print sweats.

Belle Enfant

Belle Enfant was founded in 2012 by Fleur Vidler and Henrietta Newman, who shared a vision to create an understated yet refined range for babies and children. One that celebrated exquisite craftsmanship and unrelenting attention to detail while elevating the everyday. Simple yet elegant, the collections reflect the founders’ own considered aesthetic – one that they struggled to find as mothers and modern consumers. At this season’s Pitti Bimbo the brand relaunched two ranges aimed at the wholesale market. Firstly, ‘at home’. This stylish edit of at-home essentials brings elegance to the everyday. Bedding sets for babies and children are crafted from the finest natural materials while coordinating cushions, quilts, muslins, and blankets are brought to life through beautiful fabrics and prints. Meanwhile, the Belle Enfant Beauté range offers delicate care for the skin, hair and body, carefully formulated for the earliest days of infancy. Designed to gently cleanse, nourish and hydrate, the range features simple, natural ingredients and a soft orange blossom scent that captures that evocative “baby scent.” Made in England, products are suitable from birth and make a thoughtful gift while elevating everyday routines and experiences. We loved the scented oil which remained with us as we visited the rest of the fair.
