Every year, vast volumes of usable goods go to waste, while millions of people across the UK and beyond continue to go without basic, everyday essentials. Partnering with businesses to bridge this gap for over a decade, Goods For Good ensures surplus goods – including children’s clothing, footwear and school uniforms – reach those who need them most.

As the retail sector faces increasing pressure to adopt more circular and sustainable practices, and with new regulations such as the EU’s ban on the disposal of unsold clothing and footwear accelerating this shift, the charity’s model is more relevant than ever.

This week, Goods for Good has announced the appointment of Jo Godsmark as its new CEO, as it enters its next phase of growth and approaches a significant milestone of surpassing £100 million worth of goods redistributed.

Godsmark brings more than 25 years’ experience across logistics, supply chain and sustainability, with a strong track record of delivering complex operations at scale.

Her expertise closely aligns with Goods For Good’s approach, which unites humanitarian need and environmental responsibility. Actively contributing to the organisation as a Trustee, she now takes on the role with a deep understanding of its operations, partnerships and purpose. She formally took up the position on 14 April.

Her appointment comes at a time of continued growth for Goods For Good, as demand increases for practical, scalable solutions that help businesses reduce waste while supporting communities in need. She will focus on strengthening delivery, deepening partnerships, and ensuring the charity continues to respond effectively to changing need.

“Goods For Good has built something that is both simple and powerful,” says Godsmark. “It responds to real need in a way that is practical, collaborative and human. At a time when businesses and governments are placing greater focus on sustainability and circularity, there is a real opportunity to do more. I’m looking forward to building on what has been created, working with our partners to scale our impact and ensure we continue to deliver where it matters most.”

As part of a planned leadership transition, founder Rosalind Bluestone MBE will move into the newly created role of Lifetime President.

Since founding the charity in 2014, Bluestone has developed Goods For Good into a trusted partner for businesses seeking to reduce waste while supporting communities in crisis. The organisation has delivered essential goods to millions of people and works with hundreds of corporate partners across the UK.

In her new role, Bluestone will continue to work closely with Godsmark and the Board of Trustees, providing ongoing stewardship while focusing on strengthening corporate partnerships, supporting fundraising, and acting as an ambassador for the charity, championing its mission and values.

“Goods For Good has always been about bringing people and resources together to respond to need in a practical way,” adds Bluestone. “I am incredibly proud of what has been built over the past 11 years. Jo brings the experience and clarity needed to lead the organisation forward, and I am delighted with her appointment.”

Also commenting is Mark Ashman, Chair of Trustees.

“Jo’s appointment reflects both continuity and ambition. She understands the strength of the model and the importance of partnership and is well placed to lead Goods For Good through its next stage of development. With Rosalind continuing her involvement as Lifetime President, the organisation is in a strong position to build on what has already been achieved. We are exceptionally well positioned to scale our work and reach more people in need in the years ahead.”
