Vandal Kids is a new brand of kidswear that offers high quality, practical and comfortable clothes for 3 to 10 years, without compromising on style.

Created by ex-brand director and mother, Kat Vandal, Vandal Kids has been designed to encourage children’s creativity and self-expression. It also incorporates parent-friendly features to help the clothes last and reduce their impact on the planet.

For instance, Vandal Kids’ tracksuits include innovative features such as water-repellent and abrasion-resistant shell on the hoods, chest, knees and back of the legs. This ensures they are wipeable and can be washed less often, saving on washing and increasing the longevity of the clothes.

They also offer resistance to carpet or grass friction. This protects the cotton fibres and helps them to last longer. Plus, the tracksuits remain breathable and comfortable, unlike other waterproof kits. The short-sleeved hoodies, meanwhile, can be layered over long-sleeve tops; meaning kids won’t grow out of them as quickly and allowing for year-round wear.

Other features include plant-based prints on 100% Oeko-Tex certified cotton, so they’re safe for both the garment makers’ and children’s skin. Plus, loose fit, adjustable waists and soft, stretchy cotton linings to ensure comfort, even through growth spurts.

The first Vandal Kids collection takes inspiration from 80s street art with two gender-neutral prints; Street Maze and Cheeky Graffiti. It includes long sleeve tops, cotton sweatshirts, hoodies and joggers.

Commenting is brand founder, Kat Vandal. “I am passionate about creativity and colour. I believe creativity is one of the best tools for success and happiness. So, I let my son explore, experiment, create and be messy.

“From a practical point of view, I was tired of constantly washing and throwing away his worn-out tracksuits, while having too many clothes dedicated to various activities (for art, for outdoor play, for big occasions). It wasn’t good for me and it’s definitely not good for the environment. I realised there had to be another way.

“I made it my mission to create a range of kids’ clothes that could be worn every day, that would withstand the mess and the play, and that would last. But, that would also be stylish and fun to wear. Vandal Kids clothes offer no compromise.”

Vandal Kids’ sustainable initiatives

The brand believes the number one step for a more sustainable fashion industry is to reduce quantities and wear garments for longer. Five sustainable initiatives the brand is taking include a slow fashion model focusing on seasonless essentials and multi-purpose garments.

Plus, low volumes ethically manufactured in Bulgaria; designs created to improve the longevity of the garments, from wipeable and abrasion-resistant fabrics to adjustable fits that will wear less quickly and will last longer as children grow; plant-based inks for prints to help reduce the amount of volatile compounds released, which is better for the planet, the workers, but also for children’s skin. And finally, sustainable packaging.
