Store front of John Lewis Horsham

John Lewis Horsham has unveiled its newly redesigned store layout. Part of a trial testing a series of new concepts and services, the 47,000 sq. ft store moves from an existing ‘at home’ format to a one-stop destination for fashion, beauty, tech and home design. Via the new layout, John Lewis aims to better reflect the local community it serves and respond to its needs.

On the ground floor, the installation of a new kids’ area will engage and entertain younger cusotmers; the start of things to come, as John Lewis expands its family offer in the year ahead. The kids’ area includes an interactive trail, treasure hunt and activity table as well as a nursery advice service. This is alongside kids’ fashion brands including Polarn O Pyret and Pure Baby, as well as John Lewis’s own childrenswear collections.

There are also a host of free services available, including personal styling and nursery and sleep appointments. The Click and Collect service, meanwhile, has also been relocated with extended operating hours to accommodate customers’ busy lives.

Shopping by senses

John Lewis also worked with neuroscience experts to enhance areas of the shop with sensory elements, applying a method called “sensory prescription’’®. Working with the retailer’s in-house team to look at its store designs, the experts prescribed colours, sounds and scents to specific areas depending on what is being sold and how John Lewis wants customers to feel.

Commenting is Jack Howe, branch manager at John Lewis Horsham. “We’ve listened to our local customers in Horsham and we’re thrilled they can now shop and experience a larger John Lewis offering with more departments. Early customer reaction has been incredibly positive, and they love our new look. As shoppers return to the high street, our multi-million-pound investment provides a major boost for the town centre and will attract more shoppers into the store.”
