Two young children playing with a selection of toys

Following months of sourcing and testing, John Lewis has revealed the ultimate top 10 toys for Christmas 2023 as chosen by a panel of children aged five to 10 years.

Nostalgic toys from the 90s are making a resurgence, with both the iconic Furby and Barbie car set taking the top spots. Customer searches for ‘retro’ on johnlewis.com have increased by +72% in comparison to last year. Bucket hats, Vans and checks are also popular, while searches for 90s favourite Lacoste are up +84%.

John Lewis predicts the Barbie phenomenon will continue into the winter months too, with sales of Barbies already up +31% in comparison to last year. Meanwhile, one of Britain’s favourite dog breeds makes it onto the list, allowing kids to walk and nurture their very own Cockapoo.

Elsewhere, the DJ Mix and Learn Deck means children can impress their families with their mixing skills. The Barber Role Play and the Wooden Café Set are also predicted to be popular, encouraging imaginative play as well as storytelling skills.
