Tom Joule, founder and non-executive director of British lifestyle brand Joules, has been awarded an OBE for services to business within the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours List.

Tom Joule founded Joules in 1989. The company began in the fields of Great Britain when Joule began selling clothing on a stand at a country show in Leicestershire.  The business has since grown to a multi-channel lifestyle brand, delivering annual sales of almost £200m. Furthermore, it has over 140 stores across the UK together with a total active customer base of more than 1.9m.

Joules employs over 1,700 people. It is also the biggest employer in its hometown of Market Harborough, Leicestershire, where the business has operated since day one.

Delivering significant growth over the past 30 years, Joules is still known for its distinctive use of humour, colour and unique prints; each of which is hand-drawn by the brand’s in-house print design team at its headquarters.
