For a century, Madeira has led the market in the production of high-quality embroidery threads. With distribution centres around the globe and a company-wide dedication to providing superior customer service, Madeira has worked alongside schoolwear manufacturers and suppliers for years ensuring customer satisfaction through product quality, availability, service, colour selection and consistency.
As a responsible and environmentally ethical company, Madeira is proud to maintain ISO 9001 standards. Products bearing the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification make optimum use of natural resources and are free from toxic substances.
Madeira threads fall within Oeko-Tex Class I or II – suitable for babies and safe for direct contact with skin.
The company’s Classic range is 100% natural rayon viscose machine embroidery thread with a high sheen. Being soft and flexible, it offers outstanding productivity capabilities and is ideal for embellishment across all market sectors. Four different thicknesses are available: global standard No.40; finer No.60 for small lettering and fine details; thicker No.30 ideal for knitwear and larger designs; and the thickest, No.12, for a decorative hand-stitched look.
Polyneon is the brand name for Madeira’s 100% polyester machine embroidery thread.
Produced using special winding methods, these durable petroleum-based threads run smoothly at high speeds. They are also bleach resistant and can withstand frequent, heavy-duty industrial laundering. The treads are available in three thicknesses – 40, 60 and 75 weight for superfine details.
The core thread range is accompanied by a selection of matt, wool and metallic threads, together with a high-quality variety of backings, toppings and embroidery accessories to fulfil all stitching requirements.
In such a fast-moving industry, continual research and development keep Madeira at the forefront.
Examples include the production of technologically innovative products such as the HC (High Conductive) embroidery thread for smart textiles. Also, the new Weblon backing, which is specially designed to stabilise performance wear fabrics; essential for anyone embroidering school sports kits. As well as being soft next to the skin due to its light composition, Weblon does not ‘bulk up’ embroideries.
Embroidery training courses
Ongoing training is essential to stay ahead of competitors, maximise production and therefore profitability. For this reason, Madeira frequently runs well-received embroidery training courses and has now launched the level 2 course for those seeking more in-depth technical training.
