Nursery brand Mamas & Papas has expanded its ‘Loved for Life’ preloved pushchair initiative to seven stores across the country. The expansion will present more customers with the opportunity to buy refurbished Mamas & Papas pushchairs that don’t cost the earth. Alongside extending the life of products, buying second-hand also helps to reduce emissions and shift to a more sustainable way of living.

Following an initial launch at Mamas & Papas’ outlet store in Huddersfield, the service will now be available in the Leeds, Nottingham, Croydon, Gateshead, Birmingham and Cardiff stores on a first-come, first-served basis. Mamas & Papas will donate all proceeds from the preloved pushchairs in September to Oxfam to support its Second-Hand September initiative.

The initiative follows the successful launch of the nursery brand’s Trade-in service.

This service allows customers who own a Mamas & Papas pushchair to sell it back to the brand at 26 stores across the UK in exchange for Mamas & Papas vouchers worth up to £150. Hundreds of units have already been traded in since May to be refurbished ready for resale.

Customers can purchase the preloved pushchairs with confidence knowing they’ve been professionally restored with a manufacturer 20-point safety check, repaired where necessary, and have had a professional deep clean. They also come with a six-month guarantee.

The Preloved and Trade-in services form part of Mamas & Papas’ Loved for Life initiative.

Loved for Life offers parents a range of sustainable services that ensure essential baby products can be reused, refreshed or recycled, extending the life of items such as pushchairs as well as baby clothes. It also includes a Valet & Service option. Available in 36 stores across the UK, Valet & Service maximises a pushchair’s life by providing a deep clean and replacement of any damaged or worn parts.

Mamas & Papas has adopted several sustainability initiatives in the past year as part of its ongoing ESG strategy. This includes a take-back scheme with Oxfam to reduce the amount of children’s clothing going to landfill each year and reduce the emissions from new clothing.

More than 13,000 preloved items have been donated by customers to date across 50 Mamas & Papas stores nationwide, helping support Oxfam’s vital work around the world. Furthermore, any customers who donate a bag of clothes receive a £5 discount to spend in-store.

Commenting is Nathan Williams, CEO of Mamas & Papas.

“We are delighted to be rolling out our preloved pushchairs to more stores across the country. All of our products are designed to last and can be used for multiple generations. However, wear and tear can happen over time, but with a little maintenance, they can keep performing as good as new and be reused for years to come.

“That’s what Loved for Life is all about. It delivers upon our continued passion to provide our parents with a market-leading range of circular services to help maintain, refresh, reuse or even responsibly recycle much-needed items, as well as reduce the number of items that end up in landfill.

“Thanks must go to our customers for enabling us to give their well-loved products a new lease of life and help create a truly sustainable service that not only helps care for our planet but provides for future generations.”
