Childrenswear brand Mini A Ture wishes to contribute to a world where children and future generations can grow up in peace and comfort. In light of this, in March it became one of the first childrenswear brands in the world to become B Corporation (B Corp) certified.

Since Mini A Ture was founded in 2002, it has had ambitious plans of creating something greater than a traditional children’s clothing brand. It believes producing garments for children should not just be about providing clothing. It wants to inspire children to relish the great outdoors and also encourage recycling as well as limiting harmful excess production.

For B Corps, it is not just about being the best in the world; it is about being the best for the world.

B Corp certification is the highest international standard of verified social and environmental performance. It means that Mini A Ture must commit to a series of high social sustainability standards. It has to be highly transparent and also take full responsibility as a business; everything from production methods to supply chains.

Mini A Ture has always aspired to produce in the most responsibly and environmentally friendly way possible. This includes having very clear requirements for its suppliers concerning wages and working conditions. The brand also doesn’t accept any form of harmful substances. Plus, it always uses the most sustainable materials available from certified suppliers.

The brand’s B Corp certification, therefore, stands as the greatest testament to these efforts.

Commenting is Signe Tholstrup, founder and CEO of Mini A Ture. “The rigorous criteria set for B Corp certification resonates well with our own values as a business; particularly when it comes to our beliefs about what fashion should be. We have always been highly selective when it comes to our suppliers, including wages and working conditions. When it comes to the production itself, we never use any harmful chemicals and only the most sustainable materials are selected from certified suppliers.”

Corporate success is not merely defined by profit.

There are currently around 3,800 companies around the world that form part of the B Corp movement. Members include Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s and The Body Shop. Mini A Ture, alongside fellow members, seeks to redefine what business success is measured by. Profit is no longer the decisive factor. Instead, these businesses choose to value the community and to make a difference for others.

“We believe it is our responsibility to teach our children to nurture and protect nature around us,” concludes Tholstrup. “When wearing Mini A Ture outerwear, neither wind nor rain can stop them from spending hours under the open sky. As such, we teach our children our ideals from an early age; that it is not enough to simply be, but that you must be something for others. You are never too young or small to make a difference.”
