National Weaving, a proud British manufacturer with over 30 years of experience, is setting a new standard in sustainable manufacturing for woven labels in the schoolwear and fashion industries with a commitment to transparency, quality and environmental responsibility.
National Weaving has integrated sustainability into its strategic plan aligning with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It recently completed the Green Skills for Small Business course, underscoring its dedication to eco-friendly practices and innovation in manufacturing.
In terms of environmental initiatives, the company has installed solar panels on its factory roof, generating 42% of its energy usage in 2023. It also provides car charging facilities to staff, promoting eco-friendly transportation. All products, meanwhile, incorporate recycled or repurposed yarn while also using Oeko-Tex standard yarn, ensuring safety and sustainability.
In 2024, National Weaving has declared its objective of reducing waste and promoting a circular economy by reusing its waste materials in other textile sectors.
To accomplish this, it is partnering with The Salvation Army on an innovative project focused on diminishing landfill waste using the first commercial-scale polyester recycling system globally. This initiative ensures any waste from its woven labels and printed satin is completely recycled into the circular economy through Project Re:claim, providing raw materials back to the fashion and textile industries and underscoring the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship for future generations.
