Little Black Outfit is a simple, stylish, sustainable baby brand manufactured in the UK specialising in on-trend black clothing and accessories for 0-24 months.

Leeds-based mum and business owner, Laura Grayson, founded the brand after having her daughter and struggling to find modern baby clothing in the colour black. In the height of lockdown, whilst juggling running a home, managing childcare and still working full-time, Grayson launched Little Black Outfit.

The brand offers a nine-piece Signature Collection. There are also seasonal items, with each collection stocking everything from bodysuits and sleepsuits to tracksuits, dungarees and leggings. Plus, there is a selection of accessories, including headwear, bibs and towels.

“Modern-day parents need to look no further for unisex items in quality, long-lasting fabrics, all made in black; a colour often overlooked in baby fashion,” says Grayson. “Black is not only a neutral colour you can pair with anything but it’s also practical. It makes stains less visible, allowing the garments to last longer and in turn become more sustainable.”

Current developments

Little Black Outfit is a finalist in the National Start Up Awards, which take place in June. It also came second in a business pitch event in London in April. Plus, it has won a competition to host a pop-up shop in London’s Oxford Street and Mayfair.

Furthermore, Little Black Outfit has partnered with US non-profit organisation Fifteen Percent Pledge. The organisation’s chairman, Emma Grede, is a black female from the UK who founded and co-founded Kardashian brands Good American and Skims. The Partnership enables Little Black Outfit to be on a database of black-owned businesses. These businesses are then showcased to major brands such as Bloomingdales, Macy’s and GAP, which have pledged to stock 15% of their products from black-owned brands.

“I not only wanted to create a unique fashion brand but also promote strong ESG values,” concludes Grayson. “Little Black Outfit proudly works sustainably in its manufacturing; not only having a low carbon footprint being made in the UK but also using a female-owned and run manufacturer. In addition, Little Black Outfit is on a mission to support equality and diversity through the fashion of the future generation, being unique in style and unifying change.”
