Launched in March, The Conscious Kidz is a new Irish brand offering sustainable and ethical childrenswear designed to highlight important environmental and social issues.
Founder Sacha Ben Elmansour explains the inspiration behind the brand’s creation. “When I gave birth to my son, who is now two, I started to see the world differently. We became very conscious of our impact on the planet. As a family, we made lots of changes such as cutting out animal products from our diet.
“We then started to think about what we were wearing. I began shopping organically for my son but I just couldn’t find that funky style that I wanted, so I started supporting small shops and sending them my designs to print.
“I got amazing comments from family and friends and saw there was a gap in the market to make these cool designs but in a sustainable way. It’s been a beautiful journey from there really.”
The entire collection uses certified organic, recycled and vegan materials. The printing and embroidery also feature the most sustainable and eco-friendly methods available.
The brand draws inspiration from what is happening in the world today; highlighting environmental and social issues through its designs to educate children and initiate change.
The collection, which takes a gender-neutral design concept, comprises mainly knitted garments including T-shirts, sweaters and hoodies. However, there are also denim jackets, denim dungarees and denim all in ones just about to launch.
Sizes range from age 3-4 years up to 12-14 years in the T-shirts, sweaters and hoodies. The denim, meanwhile, starts from 0-6 months going up to 5-6 years.
The brand’s new range, which lands mid-summer and includes shorts, harems, dungarees and accessories, will also be available from age 0-6 months up to 5-6 years.
