Couture American childrenswear label MOURÈNNE made its debut at the inaugural New York Kids Fashion Week last month. The satellite show organised by Global Fashion Collective, which was part of the official New York Fashion Week calendar, saw a host of mini models showcase MOURÈNNE’s collection of hand-crafted dresses.
The show opened with a ballet performance by model Gianna in MOURÈNNE’s Soirée Babydoll Top and Moon Mist Pleated Skirt. Other highlights included heirloom French and English lace, delicate tulle, Japanese Swiss trims, floral prints, exclusively dyed and woven fabrics, and silk appliques sourced from around the globe. Finishing each whimsical piece were French seams and signature couture stitches alongside embellishments including 14k gold beads, freshwater pearls and Austrian crystals.
MOURÈNNE started as a personal passion project for founder Jessica Gould, who was trying to evoke the magical memories she shared with her mother by creating wondrous dresses that fulfilled her daughter Giselle’s fantasy. A true family business, Jessica and Giselle have joined forces, with Giselle taking on the role of embroidery designer for the MOURÈNNE collection.
Commenting on the New York Fashion Week debut is Jessica Gould.
“Our dresses are more than just clothing – they are gateways to a world of magic and imagination, where girls become princesses and experience the fleeting wonder and innocence of childhood. As an American brand, it was a truly dream come true for Giselle and I to see our designs come to life on the runway at New York Fashion Week.”
MOURÈNNE is opening its first standalone boutique in Aspen, Colorado in December. The boutique is located at 431 E Hopkins Avenue alongside retailers including Gucci, Dior and Louis Vuitton, with further international store openings planned for 2024.
