Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is inviting the clothing industry to join a free webinar to launch the Clothing Durability Dozen toolkit.

With sustainability a top priority for clothing retailers and brands, and in line with circular principles, the toolkit focuses on collaborative working to develop strategies for a more environmentally friendly future.

In the webinar, members of the NTU Clothing Sustainability Research Group will introduce the Clothing Durability Dozen toolkit developed as part of the Defra funded research project, ‘Strategies to Improve Design and Testing for Clothing Longevity’.

Professor Tim Cooper, expert in sustainable consumption

The project aims to enable clothing companies to recognise, map out and celebrate what they are already doing to make quality clothes that last longer; building on these principles to develop innovative approaches to clothing durability and tailoring them to each company’s requirements.

The toolkit can act as a reference point for developing new ideas.

Ideally, however, it will serve as a collaborative tool across different departments; utilising knowledge and skills while taking a more joined up, strategic approach.

The webinar will also present the background and context of the project. This includes reflections on trials run with leading high street retailers and within education. An overview of the toolkit will run through the 12 approaches to longevity. This also includes how to use it for clothing durability success.

The Clothing Durability Dozen toolkit launch webinar takes place on 7 May at 1200-1300 (BST). To book your place, please register here. The webinar will also be recorded and sent to all registered attendees.
