Following the launch of its online performance and coaching programmes, Virtual Stage, RADA Business, the commercial subsidiary of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, is now extending its online offering of virtual performance coaching to include a new virtual training programme on media performance.

As business personnel adapt to new ways of remote working, leaders and spokespeople continue to fulfil media commitments working through remote platforms. Often, formal stakeholder announcements are delivered alone and from their own homes; without the support of a professional crew or producer.

However, delivering a both a professional and authentic performance for any media – television, radio, or webinars – demands particular skills and techniques. The training provider is now offering this coaching to help both business leaders and key spokespeople deliver their message – wherever they are.

The bespoke, virtual programme uses in-depth personal feedback, coaching as well as direction. It also includes practical exercises, discussion and analysis split into two, 3.5 hour-long modules.

In the first module, participants receive one-on-one direction on how to flex between communication styles for varying audiences as well as different situations. Plus, they will explore physical and vocal presence. From the basics of how to set up your screen, lighting and background, through to vocal range and physical presence.

In the second module, professionals learn how to hold their space. They will also discover how to maintain their state in high-stakes-scenarios and deliver their message with clarity and impact.

Commenting is Rachel Griffiths, client director at RADA Business. “Media interviews are often the cause of much trepidation for our clients. Any media interview represents an opportunity for a leader to deliver their message in a highly visible medium; to be the ambassador for their brand and to build trust with their stakeholders. Interviews are often recorded and shared across multiple channels and audiences. To ensure the opportunity is maximised, every performance should be authentic.

“A leader must be able to embody their message. They must ensure that what they are saying matches what they are feeling, thinking and behaving. The right media know-how can make or break some businesses. A strong media performance can build trust, increase engagement and impact share price.

“We are extremely excited to be launching the latest addition to our virtual performance programmes; an offering that provides business professionals with the skills and techniques to deliver an effective, aligned and powerful performance on camera and to the media.”

RADA Business, the profits from which support the activities of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, works with leaders and teams from a wide range of organisations.

These include law firms, retailers, media companies, universities and also governments across 30 countries. Essentially, the organisation’s performance coaching programmes help professionals learn effective skills. They use body, breath as well as vocal techniques to tackle a range of difficulties in the workplace.
