Children's clothes and toys displayed inside Bo-Belles Boutique

Isabella Robinson became the new owner of Leek-based children’s clothing and gift store Bo-Belles Boutique in September. The business was originally established in July 2010 by Isabella’s mum, Clare, and her godmother, Suzanna. Clare later left the business and after years of running the shop Suzanna was ready for a career change.

So, in January 2023, she approached Isabella about buying the business. Despite being just 18 years old at the time and only recently leaving home, Isabella embraced the opportunity. After taking over the shop, Isabella had seven days to completely renovate it before the reopening.

The result is a modern, inviting and cosy retail space presenting clothing for 0-8 years alongside a range of soft toys. Brands stocked by Bo-Belles include Kite Clothing, Hatley, Jellycats, Eleanor Charles, Fable & Bear, Kaloo, Blade & Rose, Candy Bows, Tuppence & Crumble, Green Island, Moccy Moo, Toffee Moon, Vignette & Ettie+H.

Isabella’s first objective was to self-build a website to take the business online and expand its reach, a goal she achieved and launched on 1 November. In-store events are something she wants to explore in the future too, but in the meantime, she is working to support the local community – especially those in need. This includes frequent giveaways to enable those who may not be able to afford to shop in Bo-Belles to do so. She is also looking to work with a local baby bank.

Future aspirations include expanding the in-store and online offerings, potentially opening another store, and sourcing a more affordable childrenswear brand to make the shop accessible to customers with lower budgets as well as higher, whilst still maintaining the same quality of products. Long-term, Isabella hopes to design and produce her own brand of clothing.
