After a successful 13-year career in sales and marketing at Coca-Cola, Sally Jackson took voluntary redundancy in 2013 to spend more time with her children, Seren and Seth. The seeds of Soren’s House were sown in 2016, when Jackson noticed a gap in the UK market for Scandinavian brands she wanted for her own children. What began as a simple Not On The High Street storefront quickly blossomed, prompting the launch of her own website in March 2017.
The early days were a whirlwind, with Jackson running the business from home, juggling pallet deliveries, stock-filled basements, and the demands of family life. However, December 2017 brought an unexpected pause when her son Seth was diagnosed with lymphoma. Jackson closed the business and focused on Seth’s treatment and her family’s wellbeing. By June 2018, following Seth’s recovery, Jackson and her husband Max, who had left his full-time job to join her, reopened the website – this time with a strengthened sense of purpose.

“When we reopened in August 2018, we rebranded as a natural design store, as Seth’s diagnosis had made us so much more aware of chemicals and toxins in everyday products,” says Jackson. “We select eco brands that are organic where possible and use non-toxic paints and finishes.”
The business has continued to thrive, culminating in the opening of a physical store in July 2025. “We decided to open the shop to showcase our furniture range,” continues Jackson. “We are the exclusive UK retailer for Kas Kopenhagen and stock Oliver Furniture, Oeuf, Quax Nobodinoz and Hoppekids. We had lots of customers asking to see the furniture, so we thought this would be a brilliant space to do that.”

Soren’s House can be found in Holmfirth, located in Society, a destination that houses several businesses within one building. The shop offers customers the opportunity to experience the products first-hand, bridging the gap between online browsing and in-person discovery.
“We live in Holmfirth, and it has a fabulous selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, so we knew Soren’s House would fit in well here – it’s also easily accessible from Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield,” explains Jackson. “Holmfirth also seems to be having a baby boom, and it is lovely to see so many expectant parents coming through our doors.”

The shop offers nursery furniture, baby essentials, organic clothing, new baby gifts, and toys, including a range of wooden toys, crafts and prints for up to 12 years. Brands include Dear April, Snuggle Hunny, Jollein, Cotton Twist, Konges Slojd, Liewood, Flexa and Janod. Although the inspiration for the shop was to provide a showroom for the furniture, Jackson is also using the space to expand her offer of organic clothing for babies and children, with new brands joining the store in 2026.
“We are constantly evolving the brands we stock and trying to improve our service wherever we can,” concludes Jackson. “Over the next two years, our focus will be on growing our internal team to include warehouse, marketing, and customer services support. It would be wonderful to open a London showroom at some point, too.”
