Established in November 2025, The River Mouse is a children’s boutique founded by Lucy Wright. Tucked away on Bath’s Pierrepont Place, it sits at the back of Hidden Store, an independent homeware and gifting shop. There, it occupies a Georgian panelled room set away from the high street, where The River Mouse character appears aboard a miniature narrowboat on a floating river, a playful detail designed to capture children’s imaginations.

 

 

The product offering spans clothing, toys, gifts and footwear, with a particular focus on UK-designed ranges and local makers. Clothing brands include Organic Zoo, Claude & Co, Little Cotton Clothes, Wex Baby, Little Green Radicals, Tiny Cottons, As Small As You Are and Kurma Collective.

The store also runs a rotating Guest Rail, giving different brands a platform each month.

Toys and gifts include Crinkly Cloth Books, Runaround Retro, Mandy Sutcliffe, Odd Goose, Sleepy Doe, Leosun and Wild Joy, while a shoe fitting service offers foot-health focused names including Froddo, Bobux, Ricosta, Zig+Star and Igor.

 

 

Sharing a building with Hidden Store has allowed Wright to collaborate on regular events with local creators and makers, with more planned in the run-up to Christmas.

Looking ahead, she is developing exclusive Christmas ranges, expanding the world around The River Mouse, and has recently launched The River Mouse’s Little Legs Tour of Bath, a family-friendly route taking in the city’s landmarks alongside independent shops and cafés.
