Small, family-run independent children’s store, Bumble & Twig, opened in Oundle, Northamptonshire in April 2023 after being established online in February 2022. As parents of three children, husband and wife team Taryn and Oli Moore have carefully selected a range of items from brands they have discovered over the course of a decade of parenting, many of which their own children have used and loved.

In terms of product, Bumble & Twig offers children’s clothing, toys, gifts, accessories, books and interiors aimed at 0 to 10 years. Brands include Olli Ella, Maileg, Little Dutch, Cotton Twist, Bottled Baking Co, Nailmatic, Rockahula Kids and Bob & Blossom. The shop itself is a light, bright, child-friendly environment with that all-important room to manoeuvre a pushchair or pram. Designed with a Scandi feel, Mustard Made lockers inject a splash of colour while Fiona Walker animal heads are dotted around to add a bit of fun.

 

 

Family is at the heart of everything Bumble & Twig does, with the couple drawing on their own family memories when choosing the store’s name. ‘Bumble’ is after the humble bumblebee; cheerful, fluffy, little hard workers and reminiscent of sunny days in the garden with their children. ‘Twig’ is a reference to the stick one of their children always finds whenever they are out and about, offering endless possibilities as a wand, to draw in the mud with, or to throw in a stream and play pooh sticks.

 

 

Events are something the couple are keen to offer, with plans including hosting Christmas shopping evenings later in the year. The store also has a community notice board to advertise relevant local children’s groups, events, businesses and services to customers.
