As we embark on our ‘new normal’ lives, ethical babywear producers and pending B Corp, Sleep Thief, is encouraging everyone to keep looking for rainbows in its brightest collection yet.

Following the success of Sleep Thief’s first signature range, it continues to brighten the lives of parents and babies everywhere with the new Rainbow Collection. Plus, following feedback from parents, the Mischiefsuit is getting a fresh face.

The main body of the suit is white, accompanied by trimmings and cuffs in the signature accent Sleep Thief colours. Also being welcomed into the family is a subtle nod to Nordic fashion; a white suit with grey trim, which includes a “fluffy cloud” with a bold rainbow.

The range has been manufactured in a new factory; a female-led operation that advocates ethical practices. Parents will notice improved quality as well as wider ankle and wrist openings for easier dressing.

The new range is the result of co-founders’ Sophie Swallow’s and Effie Dower’s personal experiences of lockdown with their children.

“Our new factory was producing PPE for the NHS, so this range was delayed in production,” says Swallow. “But good things come to those who wait, and we think these are our best suits ever. Still made from our GOTS certified 100% organic cotton, they are super soft on your child’s skin and easy to care for, whilst also caring for the planet.”

Dower adds; “Sleep Thief was started to champion the slow fashion movement. We’re being a bit rebellious and not releasing normal s/s and a/w ranges. Instead, we are working with our factory in its fallow periods to make sure that they continue to have work, even in the quiet moments. We want to know that the creation of our products is benefiting everyone – the planet, our customers and the important members of our supply chain.”

The Mischiefsuit features a subtle but requested update.

“We were able to fully test the newborn sleepsuits ourselves when our new babies came along a few months ago,” continues Swallow. “As a result, we have widened the ankle and wrist openings to help with a quicker change.

“All our other great features are still on the Rainbow suits too. The ankle to ankle rainbow zip speeds up nappy changing and helps maintain a calm atmosphere both before bed and during those late-night wake-ups. All the suits have our signature foldable feet – the footens – to allow the suit to grow with your little ones and free up feet for learning to walk. Up to nine months, the suits have scratch mittens too.”

Sleep Thief’s suits are all designed and made within the UK, which the company feels is important during these uncertain times.

“It’s been key to us to support the textile industry in the UK and to contribute to the economy at home, especially with Brexit looming large in our near future,” says Swallow. “We are very fortunate that we can keep most of our supply chain in the UK and we will continue to do this going forward.”

Dower concludes; “Staying at home has been a huge part of our collective 2020 experience. We were already creating our products in the UK, but it plays an even more important role now in light of Covid-19. We want to continue to champion the fantastic manufacturers in our country and to spread a message of hope, optimism and fun.”
