A selection of Smart Toys and Games

The team at Smart Toys and Games has unveiled the hero items from its new partnership brand, Smartivity. The DIY science and engineering wooden construction sets engage young minds and inspire future makers. They also make learning fun and, once complete, provide children with a toy to play with.

Based on the principles of STEM, Smartivity’s laser cut construction and activity sets are made from sustainable, engineered wood.

Through play, Smartivity introduces children to fundamental STEM concepts. For instance, domino effect, force, momentum, gravity, elasticity and trajectories. From cars to rollercoasters and music machines to robots, children age 6+ will enjoy building, playing and learning from these DIY kits.

The global bestseller for the brand is the mechanical Music Machine for age 8+. The kit includes everything a child needs to build their own xylophone. Children will discover the mechanical aspects of music. They will also learn how notes become melodies and produce their own songs through endless variations and combinations.

There is also Smartivity’s Stem Wheels – Speedster construction car. The set allows children to build their own car, load it into the launcher and watch it go; introducing children to the concepts of motion, elasticity and momentum.

Finally, the Smartivity Roboformers Rover-Bot 2-in-1 construction toy allows a child to construct two different toys using the same parts; a wind-up rover and an attacking bot. In the process, the toy introduces children to a core understanding of STEM concepts. For example, wind-up mechanism, gears, elasticity, torque, transfer of energy and laws of motion.

Commenting on the Smartivity range is Karen Clarke, UK brand director at Smart Toys and Games.

“We are thrilled to offer the Smartivity range to our customers. All of the construction sets encourage children to develop their cognitive skills through the joys of play. As a nation spending lots more time at home, these sets are a perfect distraction and a great rainy-day activity. Best of all, once children have finished their construction, they have a high-quality toy they can enjoy playing with for years to come.”
