In collaboration with The Daily Mile, Start-Rite Shoes has launched two new school shoe styles: Encourage and Motivate. The new school shoes strengthen The Daily Mile and Start-Rite Shoes’ joint ambition to support healthy development and physical activity, encouraging children to discover the world at their feet.

The Daily Mile initiative, supported by INEOS, improves the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of children. It is a social physical activity, with children running, jogging, wheeling, or walking for 15 minutes at their own pace in the fresh air with friends.

Start-Rite will donate 10% of profits from every sale of the exclusive school shoes to The Daily Mile to help all children, no matter their age, ability or personal circumstances, enjoy getting active every day.

Commenting on the collaboration is Elaine Wyllie MBE, founder of The Daily Mile.

“Children’s healthy development and wellbeing is at the heart of The Daily Mile’s focus. I am delighted that we have partnered with Start-Rite who share our mission to encourage children to discover the world at their feet by running, jogging, wheeling, or walking outside in the fresh air with friends. We are excited to grow the initiative further with support from Start-Rite and help more children around the world have access to daily physical activity.”

The Encourage and Motivate school shoes enable all children to move freely with adequate support for every mile. The robust styles feature the best Start-Rite intelligence, from Air Rite technology to biomechanic soles, reflective tabs, toe and heel bumpers, padded ankles, dyed-through leather and adjustable rip-tape fastenings. Encourage is a classic T-bar style with embroidered bow detail, while Motivate, a trainer style, features a double rip-tape fastening. Both shoes feature a co-branded sole and box.

Also commenting is Wayne Lubbock, Technical Development and Fitting Manager at Start-Rite Shoes.

“We continuously research the changing physiology of children’s feet and movement, working to improve children’s foot health, biomechanical movement, comfort and personal wellbeing. The point of children’s footwear is to protect the foot because the foot informs the brain and influences how the body develops. These are intelligent shoes, designed to give comfort, and most importantly, protect children.”
